The Challenge Fund for Innovation in Journalism Education has been generously funded by a consortium of funders, which includes Democracy Fund, Inasmuch Foundation, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Scripps Howard Foundation, the Rita Allen Foundation and the Robert R. McCormick Foundation. For the 2020 round, we are grateful to Democracy Fund, Knight Foundation, Inasmuch Foundation and Scripps Howard Foundation for their contributions.
The fund supports “live news experiments” that further the development of collaborative models in journalism education, in which students create innovative projects with professionals, technologists, professors and researchers. For this round, up to 10 projects will be selected to receive a micro-grant of $20,000 each.
