Welcome to the 2024 Online News Association Conference Suggestion Box! This is your opportunity to help shape ONA24 by letting us know what ideas and topics are important to you. Please note that these suggestions are a virtual brainstorming session; a starting point for discussions with ONA's training staff.
We are looking for sessions to support best practices or innovative ideas for:
- Leadership + Strategy + Culture
- AI + Emerging Technologies
- Practical Insights + Tools
- Revenue + Sustainability
- Audience Development
Below are the session formats that resonate most with our community. The application form will guide you through submitting a specific format. For more about tips, session formats and other frequently asked questions, we've created a centralized resource about the Suggestion Box. Please note, we are looking for a mix of every session type but will put particular emphasis on practical training and insights across the schedule. Here are the options to get you started:
- Skill-building: Interactive sessions offering participants practical skills to apply to their home newsrooms or organizations via collaborative, in-the-room learning (3 facilitators max)
- Best Practices + Case Studies: Presentations sharing case studies and experience-based insights on successes and failures, best practices and other pragmatic knowledge (2 presenters max)
- Panels: Larger conversations featuring several topical experts on complex topics or challenges (4-5 presenters max, including any moderator)
- Masterclasses: Solo talks and fireside chats on topics of interest delivered by experts and leaders in the online news space and beyond (2 presenters max)
The deadline for Suggestion Box submissions is Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:59 PM EDT (04:59 AM UTC). Submissions will be reviewed by our volunteer Program Committee: a group of working professionals who recommend topics they deem essential to ONA staff for final decisions. All submitters will receive notification, whether their topic is selected or not, by mid-July.
